Unscented Deoderant
We’ll save you guys the deodoRANT (see what we did there) about how stinky plasticky packaged deodorant is. Luckily, there’s a whole heap of alternatives out there, all deliciously wrapped and packaged waste-free so you don’t have to go without. One of our favourites here at Hopper is the Oh Goodness range of deodorant, made right here in Wellington. Big fan of the tea tree and peppermint!
But the best way to get your waste free deodorant is to make it at home? It’s cheap, long-lasting, and really easy to make using only four ingredients. A 260g jar (which would last at least a year), using ingredients sourced at Hopper cost us $9 to make and just under half an hour. Easy as!
You’ll need:
6 tablespoons arrowroot powder or corn starch
2 tablespoons bi-carb soda
2-3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon shea butter
Steps:
Whip the coconut oil and shea butter.. (you might need to soften it a little)
Gently combine bicarb soda and arrowroot powder
Whip all of the ingredients together
Let the mixture set and check the consistency
Transfer into a jar or small container
